Referral Partner Terms

LAST UPDATED: JUNE 2026

This document serves as the binding agreement for Story & Legacy Films partners. Please read these terms carefully, as they govern your participation in the referral program.

1. Program Overview

Story & Legacy Films may offer a referral thank-you payment to approved referral partners who introduce qualified families or individuals to Story & Legacy Films.

A referral payment is intended as a thank-you for a legitimate introduction. It does not make the referral partner an employee, agent, salesperson, legal representative, or authorized spokesperson of Story & Legacy Films.

2. Referral Payment

Story & Legacy Films offers a $500 referral payment for each qualified referral who becomes a paying Story & Legacy Films client.

A referral becomes eligible for payment only when all of the following are true:

- The referred person or family was not already in active conversation with Story & Legacy Films.

- The referral was submitted through an approved referral form, email introduction, or other method accepted by Story & Legacy Films.

- The referred client signs an agreement with Story & Legacy Films.

- The referred client pays their required deposit, retainer, or first invoice.

- The payment has cleared and the project has not been canceled, refunded, or disputed.

Referral payments are typically paid within 30 days after the referred client’s qualifying payment has cleared.

3. Qualified Referrals

A qualified referral is a person or family who may be a good fit for a Story & Legacy Films service and who has a genuine interest in preserving a life story, voice, memories, values, or wisdom for future generations.

Story & Legacy Films may decline any referral for any reason, including but not limited to poor fit, location limitations, scheduling issues, project scope, prior contact, duplicate referral, or concerns about consent.

4. Duplicate Referrals

If the same person or family is referred by more than one referral partner, Story & Legacy Films will determine which referral partner, if any, is eligible for the referral payment.

In general, the first complete referral received and documented by Story & Legacy Films will be considered the eligible referral.

5. Prior Relationships

A referral payment will not be owed if the referred person or family was already known to Story & Legacy Films, already in the company’s contact system, already in communication with Story & Legacy Films, or already referred by another person before the referral was submitted.

6. Disclosure Requirement

Referral partners must clearly and honestly disclose that they may receive a referral payment if the person they refer becomes a client.

A simple disclosure may be:

“I may receive a referral thank-you if you choose to work with Story & Legacy Films.”

Referral partners should never hide, misrepresent, or downplay the existence of a referral payment.

7. Professional and Employer Rules

Some professionals, including attorneys, financial advisors, accountants, insurance professionals, healthcare professionals, senior care professionals, fiduciaries, and employees of certain organizations, may be subject to rules that restrict or prohibit referral payments.

Each referral partner is responsible for confirming that accepting a referral payment is allowed under their professional rules, employer policies, licensing requirements, ethical duties, and applicable laws.

Story & Legacy Films may refuse to pay a referral fee if paying it may violate any law, professional rule, ethical obligation, employer policy, or conflict-of-interest standard.

If a referral partner cannot accept compensation, they may still make an introduction without payment, or they may ask Story & Legacy Films whether another arrangement is available.

8. No Misleading Claims

Referral partners may not make false, misleading, exaggerated, or unauthorized claims about Story & Legacy Films, its services, pricing, availability, process, results, or guarantees. Referral partners may describe Story & Legacy Films generally as a company that creates cinematic legacy films to preserve a person’s life story, voice, memories, values, and wisdom for their family.

All package details, recommendations, pricing discussions, and project decisions should be handled directly by Story & Legacy Films.

9. No Authority to Bind Story & Legacy Films

Referral partners may not sign agreements, negotiate terms, promise discounts, guarantee availability, collect payments, make package recommendations, or speak on behalf of Story & Legacy Films as an official representative. Only Story & Legacy Films may approve clients, pricing, scheduling, project scope, deliverables, and final agreements.

10. Respectful Referral Practices

Referral partners must only refer people in a respectful, appropriate, and non-pressuring way. Referral partners may not use spam, mass unsolicited messages, misleading advertising, fake testimonials, paid ads using the Story & Legacy Films name without permission, or any method that may harm the reputation of Story & Legacy Films. Referral partners should not submit someone’s private contact information unless they have permission to do so or are making a mutual introduction.

11. Taxes and Payment Information

Referral partners are responsible for any taxes related to referral payments they receive. Story & Legacy Films may request a completed W-9 or other required tax information before issuing payment. If required by law, Story & Legacy Films may issue the appropriate tax form for referral payments. Failure to provide requested payment or tax information may delay or prevent payment.

12. Refunds, Cancellations, and Chargebacks

If a referred client cancels, receives a refund, disputes a payment, or does not move forward with a paid project, no referral payment is owed. If a referral payment has already been issued and the client later receives a refund or chargeback, Story & Legacy Films may deduct that amount from future referral payments or request repayment.

13. Program Changes

Story & Legacy Films may change, pause, or end the referral program at any time. Referral payment amounts, eligibility rules, payment timing, and program requirements may be updated without prior notice. Any changes will apply to referrals submitted after the updated terms are posted or communicated.

14. Termination

Story & Legacy Films may remove any referral partner from the program at any time for any reason, including misleading conduct, failure to disclose compensation, inappropriate referral practices, reputational concerns, or violation of these terms.

15. No Guarantee of Payment

Submitting a referral does not guarantee a referral payment. A referral payment is only owed when all eligibility requirements in these terms are met and Story & Legacy Films confirms the referral as qualified.
